Providence Serves

At Providence, service is not just something we do—it’s who we are in Christ. Out of gratitude for the gospel, we seek to love our neighbors in tangible ways, following Jesus who came not to be served but to serve. Providence Serves is our yearlong rhythm of four school-wide projects that unite students, families, and faculty around meaningful, sustainable service.

Why four projects?

  • Depth over breadth: we invest deeply rather than spreading thin.
  • Unity: whole-community projects form shared stories and habits.
  • Formation: repeated, intentional service shapes virtue and compassion.
  • Partnerships that last: consistent rhythms strengthen community impact.

Our Annual Rhythm of Service

Q1 – Second Harvest Food Drive
We begin by looking to neighbors in need. Students bring food to stock Second Harvest’s shelves, remembering that Christ calls us to feed the least of these and to see His image in every person.

Q2 – Letters to the Military
In the Thanksgiving/Christmas season, students write letters of gratitude and encouragement to men and women serving our country—a small testimony of Christ’s comfort that reminds them they are not forgotten.

Q3 – Serve Where You Are
In spring, we focus on the places God has planted us—neighborhoods, churches, our campus, our city.

  • MS/HS: Serve together on Service Days
  • Elementary School: Choose a cause you’re passionate about and serve as a family anytime throughout the year. Then share photos and a brief reflection with us so we can celebrate how God worked through ordinary faithfulness.

Q4 – Penny Wars
We finish with joyful generosity. Students bring pennies and spare change; these small gifts combine to support local ministries and global mission work—showing that even the smallest offering can be used for great good.

How to Participate

  1. Watch for quarter kickoff dates and instructions.
  2. Pray as a family about where to serve.
  3. Participate joyfully—then tell us how it went!
